A Kempenfelt Bay custom residence, described in Good Life magazine as a waterfront home with “tranquil simplicity and gracious traditional style” (September/October 2015, p. 15).

The transformation of an outdated property has become a modern oasis of clean design and well styled comfort while connecting the interior with the beauty of the natural environment surrounding the home. The use of daylighting and sustainable materials played an important role in the renovation and addition to this 1960’s ranch bungalow. The simplified lines throughout the design have been complimented by the attention to detail that went into each space and expands across the exterior. The great room unites kitchen, dining and recreation spaces and the bedrooms have been designed in a cluster, both which evoke a strong sense of unity.

This lakefront property is made up of several residential features including a guest house, boat house and garage. The slope, scale and situation have enabled the design to relate well with the natural environment and access to the water. The active lifestyle and strong sense of hospitality of the home owners is reflected throughout the interior and exterior spaces.

This Lake Simcoe retreat is situated along the shoreline, taking full advantage of natural daylight and a magnificent view of the water.

Along with other improvements made to this waterfront residence, this simplified boathouse design provided a much needed area for storage along with additional entertaining space for the home owners.

The objective of this project was to convert an existing bedroom and bathroom into a large elegant bathroom. Natural day lighting is brought into the space by adding new windows and a skylight. A glass steam shower is the main focal point, with a multi spray shower head, beautiful tile and led lights. By having the glass shower in the middle of the room it allows the light to carry through the space. The cabinets are custom made; the front faces of the drawers are finished with an alligator texture vinyl, which gives a unique texture and finish to the millwork and space. The door to the bathroom is also custom made with handmade glass inserts. Accent floor lighting, creates soft light for relaxing in a luxurious bubble bath.
