
Craig Handy, Architect, Principal
Craig Handy is a highly skilled and registered Architect with 15 years of professional experience. In July 2026, he became Principal of Ted Handy and Associates alongside Jessica Mawson. He is deeply involved in all aspects of the design process, from concept design through to design development, consultant coordination, regulatory approvals, construction documents, and project review.
Craig’s extensive experience spans various sectors, including residential, community, commercial, hospitality, master-planning, and large-scale mixed-use developments. His residential projects range from mid- and high-rise developments to private residences.
With a wealth of international experience, Craig has worked on projects across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and the UK. During his time in London, he served as an architectural and urban designer, as well as a BIM consultant. At Ted Handy and Associates, Craig is responsible for BIM coordination and authoring, bringing his expertise in Building Information Modeling to the forefront of our projects.
Craig’s diverse background and comprehensive approach to architecture make him an invaluable asset to our team, ensuring that each project meets the highest standards of design and functionality.

Jessica Mawson, Architect, Principal
Architect Jessica Mawson joined the Ted Handy & Associates team in 2014, following the completion of her Master of Architecture degree. In July 2026, she became Principal of Ted Handy and Associates alongside Craig Handy. Since then, she has gained extensive experience across a wide variety of project types, from residential renovations to large-scale institutional projects.
Jessica’s proficiency in various 3D modeling and drafting software enables her to collaborate seamlessly with the design team. Her contributions are vital to the development of design concepts, the production of construction documents, detailed work, and the creation of 3D renderings.
With her diverse skill set and dedication to excellence, Jessica continues to be an invaluable asset to our team, bringing creativity and precision to every project she undertakes.
The Team

Ted Handy, Architect, Principal Emeritus
As the lead architect and principal of the firm from 1990 to July 2026, Ted Handy was responsible for the overall direction of each project to its successful realization. As Principal Emeritus, he continues to provide senior advisory support and architectural guidance to the firm and its clients. It is his extensive experience and integrated approach that ensures all client concerns are clearly translated, without compromise, and that clients and user groups are continuously aware of the evolution of the design.
Upon completing his education in Architecture and Environmental Studies at the University of Waterloo in 1976, Ted Handy went on to work for the Chandler Kennedy Architectural Group, one of the largest architectural practices in the country. During this time, Ted was an associate partner and senior project administrator. He then moved to Dover Park Development Corporation Limited in the position of Development Manager. These positions provided a detailed background in planning, project development, construction, financing, and operations, experience that he applies through his ongoing involvement with Ted Handy and Associates.
Ted has designed several award-winning facilities for a diverse group of loyal clients, ranging from municipalities and school boards to commercial and residential organizations.

Rob Knight, Design Consultant – rKdzn
Rob Knight joined Ted Handy and Associates in 1999 and served as a Principal of the firm until March 2026. Today, he continues to support the firm as a Consultant, providing leadership, guidance, and technical expertise to the design and production team while mentoring staff and contributing to project delivery. Rob works closely with project teams to oversee design development and technical aspects of projects, bringing extensive experience in production, design-build, and contract supervision across a diverse portfolio.
Upon graduating in 1989 from Ryerson Polytechnical Institute’s Architectural Science program, Rob joined Crang & Boake Architects Limited. Continuing his architectural design experience, Rob was also a team member of Moffat Kinoshita Inc. and Teeple Architects. His experience as project manager on numerous projects brings thorough knowledge of large, complex facilities.
He has provided a leadership role on various building types, including institutional, commercial, residential (low- and high-rise), places of worship, and industrial projects. This experience has encompassed many elements of project management and execution, from document preparation and consultant coordination to contract administration, project analysis, and design development.

Anna Frankiewicz, Senior Technologist
Since joining our firm in 1988, Anna Frankiewicz has been an indispensable cornerstone of our team. As a Senior Technologist, Anna works closely with the design team, playing a pivotal role in the development of designs and overseeing the production and coordination of contract drawings. Her extensive experience spans large-scale projects, including institutions, community centers, and churches.
Anna’s exceptional expertise in consultant coordination covers structural, mechanical, electrical, and specialty projects. Her skills extend to schematic studies, design development, presentations, and model creation. Anna’s dedication and vast knowledge make her an invaluable asset to our team, ensuring the highest standards of quality and precision in every project.

Sadaf Badakshanfard, Architect
Sadaf Badakhshanfard, who completed her Master of Architecture degree in 2012, is a licensed and registered architect with the Ontario Association of Architects (OAA). At Ted Handy and Associates, she plays a crucial role in the production of detailed drawing documents and consultant coordination.
Sadaf’s experience spans a wide range of projects, including residential and mixed-use developments. Her expertise in Building Information Modeling (BIM) is complemented by her teaching experience in software programs such as AutoCAD, Revit, and 3D Max. Her diverse skills and dedication greatly enhance the quality of our architectural solutions.

Shannon Ford, Architect
Shannon McMillan is a registered OAA Architect and LEED Green Associate since 2025. She has been a valuable member of the Ted Handy & Associates team since first joining us as an undergraduate co-op student in 2016. Her experience spans various sectors including institutional, commercial, and residential.
Shannon supports the THA collaborative design process by assisting with schematic studies, drawing development, construction document production, consultant coordination, material research, renderings, and 3D modeling. Her comprehensive skillset, sharp organizational abilities, dedication to creative problem solving, and passion for lifelong learning contributes significantly to the success of our projects.

Michelle McLaren, Architect
Michelle McLaren, an Architect registered with the Ontario Association of Architects (OAA), became a valuable member of the Ted Handy & Associates team shortly after completing her Master of Architecture degree at Laurentian University in 2021. Michelle received her architect’s license in early 2026.
Michelle works closely with our team, contributing her skills and expertise to various aspects of our projects. Her responsibilities include design development, the production of construction documents, consultant coordination, and 3D rendering.
Her proficiency in these areas ensures that our projects are meticulously planned and executed, reflecting the high standards we uphold at Ted Handy & Associates. Michelle’s dedication and collaborative spirit make her an essential part of our team, driving the success of our architectural endeavors.

Saman Soltani, Intern Architect
Saman Soltani, an OAA Intern Architect and LEED Green Associate since 2022, joined the Ted Handy & Associates team after earning her Master of Architecture from Carleton University.
Saman has contributed her expertise to a diverse range of projects, including residential, commercial, institutional, and industrial developments. Her responsibilities encompass design development, the production of construction documents, permit approvals, consultant coordination, material research, rendering, and 3D modeling.
With her comprehensive skill set and dedication to sustainable design, Saman plays an integral role in ensuring our projects are not only meticulously crafted but also environmentally conscious. Her commitment to excellence and innovation enhances the quality and success of our architectural endeavors.

Taisiia Savchenko, Architectural Technologist
Taisiia is a skilled Architectural Technologist who joined Ted Handy and Associates (THA) in 2022. A graduate of O. M. Beketov National University of Urban Economy in Kharkiv, Taisiia brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the team.
Proficient in Building Information Modeling (BIM) with a strong command of Revit, Taisiia excels in creating detailed working drawings, coordinating project elements, and producing high-quality renderings. Her experience spans various types of projects, showcasing their versatility and commitment to delivering exceptional architectural solutions.

Lianyi Wang, Architectural Technologist
Lianyi Wang joined the Ted Handy & Associates team in 2024, shortly after graduating from George Brown College with a diploma in Architectural Technology. That same year, she became a registered Ontario Building House Designer. Leveraging her expertise in 3D modeling and drafting software, Lianyi collaborates with the Long-Term Care Home team, contributing to design development, construction documentation, detailing, and 3D renderings.

Caleigh Marshall, Intern, ARIDO
Caleigh Marshall joined the Ted Handy & Associates team as an undergraduate co-op student in 2024. Originally working as an interim Office Manager, she has since completed her Honours Bachelor of Interior Design degree and has taken on a new role within the team, with the aim of becoming a registered interior designer. Utilizing her experience in sustainable and innovative interior design, Caleigh assists the team with design and technical input, project management, contract administration, and model making.

Jordan Camirand, Office Manager and Bookkeeper
Jordan is responsible for the day-to-day operations of Ted Handy and Associates, providing leadership in office management, human resources, finance, and client service. Her diverse background in management, business administration, and organizational development brings a well-rounded perspective to the firm.
After earning a degree in Biological Sciences, Jordan built a career focused on business operations and leadership. She played a key role in establishing and managing one of Canada’s first veterinary hospice centres, gaining valuable experience in operations, finance, human resources, and customer service.
In addition to overseeing the firm’s administrative functions, Jordan has assumed responsibility for bookkeeping and accounting operations. Having completed her Human Resources Management Certificate through York University, Jordan is continuing her professional development toward her Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation.
Jordan is committed to fostering a collaborative workplace culture and supporting the firm’s continued growth through strong organizational practices and exceptional client service.
